I CAN COLOUR BETWEEN THE LINES
Large – scale project produced for Cork Midsummer Festival
(2017/2018)
From 2017 until 2021 Kath was the Head of Participation and Engagement at Cork Midsummer Festival. International projects she initiated and produced for Cork Midsummer Festival include I Can Colour Between The Lines by award winning UK artists Mark Storor and Stephen King with the residents of Knocknaheeny, Cork.
Funded as part of a ten-year new housing programme and commissioned by Cork City Council as part of the Per Cent for Art Scheme. The first phase involved over a 100 workshops with local residents all over the area. The second phase of the project used a house due for demolition. Leading up to the 2018 festival edition the house was transformed - with local help - representing different sides and stories of Knocknaheeny, past and present. At sunset on 21 June 2018, a JCB Digger carefully carried a Cherrywood table out of the house, with a public procession leading to a burial and wild flower scattering.
